Layerswap review
Solver-filled bridge — a Layerswap solver pays out on the destination chain from its own liquidity, sometimes chaining CCTP, LayerZero or rollup bridges
Key findings
Layerswap moves tokens between chains by having a solver pay you on the destination chain once your deposit is seen. Routes without direct liquidity chain an external bridge such as CCTP or LayerZero, which takes longer. Fees are a per-route percentage plus network costs, all shown in the quote. Data is still accumulating: we started sampling Layerswap directly on 31 October 2026, so this page draws no cost or ranking conclusions yet.
As of 3 Nov 2026, 10:35 UTC (run #538), Layerswap returned quotes on 28 sampled routes (159 quote rows in this packet). At $200 it was the cheapest ranked quote on 5 routes. Median cost among its non-negative $200 quotes: 25.60 bps (cheapest observed 0.16 bps). Sources reporting it: LI.FI, Layerswap. Real-money tests: none yet — planned after launch.
- 7-day coverage: rankable quotes on 36 routes in 336 of 336 runs (45,783 rows).
- Gas policy: Gas is shown per quote when the API returns it; ranking uses net received excl. gas.
- Real-money tests: none yet after launch

How does Layerswap work?
You send funds on the source chain — to a deposit address, or through the Depository contract, which records the deposit and forwards it to the solver that fills it. A solver then sends the destination token from its own liquidity (Layerswap — Depository).
Where Layerswap has no liquidity on a route it chains an external bridge (CCTP, LayerZero, Axelar, CCIP or a rollup's native bridge) with its own liquidity; such routes can take around 20 minutes instead of seconds (Layerswap — Fees). If the solver cannot complete a transfer, Layerswap retries and then refunds the source token on the source chain, minus refund gas (Layerswap — Refunds).

Who pays you
Delivery depends on a Layerswap solver paying out on the destination chain. The Depository forwards your deposit to whitelisted solver addresses; an independent review (Hexens, March 2026) of that contract reported no high- or medium-severity issues.
LayerswapHexensExternal bridges
On multi-provider routes the transfer also inherits the trust model and timing of the external bridge in the path (for example CCTP or LayerZero).
LayerswapSecurity incidents
20 March 2024: attackers took over the layerswap.io domain at its registrar and pointed it to a phishing site; about $100K was lost by users who signed there. Contracts were not affected; Layerswap promised full refunds plus 10%.

What fees does Layerswap charge?
- Layerswap fee
- A percentage set per route (the docs give 0.05% as an example), sometimes with a small fixed USD part. Layerswap
- Bridge expenses
- Destination gas (and, on multi-provider routes, the external bridge's cost), based on recent transactions on that route. Layerswap
Our Layerswap quotes come from its public API (GET /api/v2/quote, no key) and already include both fees. Source-chain gas is not counted.
How did its quotes perform in our data?
Quotes for Layerswap in run #538, by the API that reported them.
| Source | Type | Routes | Quote rows | $200 cheapest | Median $200 bps | Negative-cost rows |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Layerswap | direct | 28 | 81 | 5 | 10.57 | 0 |
| LI.FI | via aggregator | 27 | 78 | 0 | 31.49 | 0 |
Negative-cost quotes (receiving more than you send) are listed, never ranked. Cost excludes source-chain gas.
Has upswap tested it with real money?
Not yet. Real-money tests are planned after launch; no test wallets or transactions are published yet.
What are the pros and cons?
Pros
- Wide chain coverage, including Solana and Hyperliquid (HyperCore).
- Every quote lists the service fee, network fee and execution path.
- Automatic refund on the source chain if a transfer cannot be completed.
Cons
- You rely on Layerswap's own solvers to pay out.
- Routes that chain an external bridge are much slower and inherit that bridge's risks.
- March 2024 domain-hijack phishing incident.
Who is Layerswap for?
Data is accumulating (direct sampling since 31 Oct 2026). Check the quoted path before sending: a direct path usually completes in seconds, a CCTP or LayerZero leg takes minutes.
Has it been hacked?
No incident linked in our incident library.
Which official links are verified?
What is still unverified?
- 待核实 How many solvers fill Layerswap routes and who operates them (the docs describe whitelisted solver addresses but not the operators).
- 待核实 Whether Layerswap V8 (atomic HTLC settlement, described on the Layerswap blog) is live on the routes we sample.
